WWF was created in 1961 out of a deep concern for what was happening to the world at
that time. Since those early days, WWF has grown to be one of the largest environmental
organizations in the world.
Currently there are more than 1,300 WWF conservation projects underway around the
world and the vast majority of these focus on local issues. Almost all our work involves
partnerships with local non-profit agencies, other global NGOs, village elders, local councils,
regional government offices and businesses.
